Part 3: What's on my plate?

I've finally finished the 31 Days of Creativity with Food series. It wasn't really smooth sailing for me. I don't get to think of a bright idea daily. There were days when my brain went blank and there were times when my idea turned into disaster. There's so much creative things you can do with food. This made me look at food differently. A big thanks to Red Hong Yi for inspiring me to join #creativemarch. I'm looking forward to doing more creative challenges. I've actually started a new one - The Toast + Art Project - faces on toast. Here's the last batch of food art pieces I did.

"Mickey and Minnie" toast art.
"Girls love shoes" made of jicama and beets.
"Dominoes" made of jicama, eggplant peels and black peppercorns.
"Flowerland" made of banana blossom and leaf, jicama and eggplant.

"Dreaming of Spaghetti" made of spaghetti pasta, carrots and capsicum.
"Jeepney Meal" made of dried anchovies, garlic fried rice, tomatoes and egg.
"Japanese Dolls" made of eggplant, squash, carrot, capsicum and ketchup.
"The Never Full Pig" made of pan de coco (coconut bread), sausage and raisins.

"Flower Baby" inspired by Anne Geddes. I just love her pictures of infants in whimsical settings. Baby made of chico. Flower made of carrot. Stalk and leaves made of celery.
"Orange Oliver" inspired by a children's story about an orange kitten who cannot see very well and needs glasses. Made of carrots, ginger, cucumber and red onion.

Part 2: What's on my plate?

Hello! It's been a while. I've been busy doing the food series inspired by Hong Yi. This food series has helped me push the limits of my creativity. I've realized there are endless possibilities with food art. I aim to finish 31 food art plates (a total of one month). I still have about 10 more plates to do. Here are some additional food artwork I did.

"Pepper Hot Marilyn" made of black peppercorns. I had to stop myself from sneezing while making this. Lol!
"LMH" made of tea. Especially dedicated to a dear friend.
Facial, anyone? My "spa-inspired" sandwich made of bread, ham, mayonnaise, ketchup, cheese and cucumber. Red onions for garnishing. Inspired by my friend's spa business.
"Christ" created with bread crumbs. Lenten theme artwork.
"Flamenco Dancer" made of apple and eggplant peels.
"Easter Basket" made of carrots, celery, bok choy stalks and eggplant peels.
"Cherubs" made of sesame seeds.

"Phoenix" made of Pik-Nik Ketchup Fries, ketchup and mayonnaise.
"Blowing Bubbles" made of crushed cookies and cereals.
"Flora" made of beets, bok choy and mayonnaise. I'm a big fan of Georgia O'Keeffe. This was inspired by her flower paintings.

Mom

Whenever I have time, I indulge myself in sketching. It's one of my greatest joys in life. Today, I'm sharing some sketches I made for my mom "Nene" who passed away in 2006. Oh, how I miss her!

What's on my plate?

Creativity with food - I got this idea from Red Hong Yi, a Malaysian artist, who is doing "31 Days of Creativity in March." I'm such a big fan of hers. I decided to follow through and make my own creative spin on this project. However, I'm not doing it on a daily basis, only when something catches my fancy and stirs my imagination. Here are some of the works I've done so far...

March 7 - "sKETCHUP" a self-portrait using left-over catsup from a midnight snack.
 March 9 - A woman's face carved from an apple-mango.
March 12 - My own version of Mona Lisa using soy sauce.
March 15 - "Jane" made of coffee granules.
March 16 - Our dog "Spikey" made of brown sugar, coffee and Ovaltine.
March 17 - Owl made of red onions and barbecue sauce. This moved me to tears...haha!
March 17 - "Obama on Banana" a banana tattoo.
March 19 - "Edward Cullen" made of chocolate sticks.
March 20 - "Up" made of Nips chocolate candies, chocolate sticks and marshmallows.
March 21 - My dried watermelon seed version of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
March 22 - "Fly away with me" made of marshmallows and sauce. This is my fave work so far.
